VSep - Frequently Asked Questions

VSep uses a machine learning model (CoreML) to analyze audio and separate vocals from instruments. All processing happens directly on your device β€” we never upload your audio to any server. Simply import a song, and VSep will generate two separate tracks: one with vocals only, and one with instruments only.

No! VSep works entirely offline. The AI model is downloaded with the app and runs locally on your device. This ensures your privacy and allows you to process music anywhere, even without an internet connection.

VSep supports common audio formats including MP3, AAC, and WAV files. You can import songs from your Music Library, Files app, or from other apps using the Share Sheet. Exported files are saved as high-quality stereo WAV files at 44.1kHz.

Processing time depends on the length of the song and your device. A typical 3-4 minute song takes about 30-60 seconds to process on modern iPhones. The processing runs in the background, so you can use other apps while waiting.

Absolutely not. VSep is designed with privacy as a core principle. All audio processing happens locally on your device using CoreML. Your music never leaves your device and is never uploaded to any server.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the necessary rights to use any audio you process with VSep. Separating vocals from a song does not grant you additional rights to the original work. Please respect copyright laws and only use VSep with content you have permission to use.

Songs with heavily mixed vocals, heavy reverb, or similar frequency ranges for vocals and instruments can be more challenging to separate cleanly. The AI works best with clear vocal tracks and well-separated mixes. Results may vary depending on the complexity of the original recording.

VSep requires iOS 16.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone and iPad. For best performance, we recommend using a device with an A12 chip or newer (iPhone XS and later). The app is optimized to run efficiently on all supported devices.

VSep Troubleshooting

App crashes during processing

  • Ensure you have enough free storage space (at least 2GB recommended)
  • Close other apps to free up memory
  • Try processing a shorter song first
  • Restart your device and try again

Can't import songs from Music Library

  • Make sure you've granted VSep access to your Music Library in Settings > Privacy & Security > Media & Apple Music
  • Songs protected by DRM (older iTunes purchases) cannot be processed
  • Try importing via the Files app instead

Export fails or file is corrupted

  • Check available storage space
  • Try exporting to a different location
  • Ensure the app has permission to write to Files

Poor separation quality

  • The AI works best with high-quality source audio
  • Some genres and mixing styles are harder to separate
  • Try different songs to see varying results
